Australian Arts ReviewAustralian mezzo-soprano Sian Sharp has been part of Opera Australia for over 20 years, amassing a repertoire of over 60 roles in the operatic canon. From Dorabella, Rosina, Prince Charming and Hermia, to Carmen, Maddalena, Amneris and Waltraute, she has performed across the full breadth of the repertoire and appears regularly in concert with Australia’s leading orchestras and choral organisations.
In 2026 Sian performs Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Maddalena (Rigoletto) for Opera Australia, mezzo-soprano in Elijah for Brisbane Chamber Choir, and features in the company’s 70th Anniversary Gala Concert.
In 2025 she sang the title role in Carmen, Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Prince Charming (Cendrillon), Kitchen Boy (Rusalka) and Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas) for Opera Australia, featured in the Canberra Theatre’s 60th Anniversary Gala Concert, performed excerpts from Carmen with the Malaysian Philharmonic, and joined the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra for Rossini’s Stabat Mater.
